The LIONS CLAW is a weekly newsletter of the St. Joseph Lions Club and published every Friday. The Claw has taken many forms since 1928. In the very beginning the newsletter was typewritten using carbon paper. Now the newsletter is formatted digitally and electronically mailed to all members; potential members; some past members; zone, district, state and international officers and organizations, and friends. Each issue includes a report on the weekly program, a recap of announcements made about upcoming events and reports on past activities, highlights of the Lion Tamer and Tail Twister activities, a list of the guests present and any other information that the current editor feels a need to include. Other information that can be found in each weekly issue are a list of the current club officers, zone and district officials, a list of the club’s past presidents and a current membership roster of the Club. The Claw is written by six volunteer editors who each take responsibility for writing it for a two month period. The newsletters of all District 11-B-2 Lions Clubs are judged annually by a District committee and the best are presented awards. The top award is the traveling “Shorty Flora Memorial Award” and The Claw has won this coveted plaque on three occasions. The Claw has also received recognition at the zone and district levels. |
